2026 NHL Draft Order 1
The 2026 NHL Draft will takes place on June 26–27, 2026, from the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The decentralized event features Round 1 on Friday, June 26, at 7:00 PM ET, and Rounds 2–7 on Saturday, June 27, starting at 11:00 AM ET.
223 players in total will be drafted over the seven rounds. There will be one less player drafted this year as the Vegas Golden Knights forfeited their second-round pick for violating the NHL's Stanley Cup Playoff media regulations. .

Pre-Draft Day First Round Traded Picks
# 15 - The St. Louis Blues receive the Detroit Red Wings 2026 1st round and 3rd round picks, Justin Holl, and Dmitri Buchelnikov for Justin Faulk.
# 18 - The Washington Capitals receive the Anaheim Ducks 2026 1st round pick for D John Carlson. The pick is condition on the Ducks making the playoffs. If they miss the playoff they can move the pick to 2027.
# 20 - The San Jose Sharks received the Edmonton Oilers 2026 first-round pick (top 12 protected with option to slide to 2027) and Carl Berglund for Jake Walman.
# 24 - The Vancouver Canucks receive the Minnesota Wild's 2026 first-round pick, Marco Rossi, Liam Ohgren and Zeev Buium for Quinn Hughes.
# 25 - The Seattle Kraken receive the Tampa Bay Lightning's 2026 first-round pick (top 10 protected), 2027 first-round pick (top 10 protected), 2025 second-round pick (TOR), and Michael Eyssimont for Yanni Gourde, Oliver Bjorkstrand and a 2026 fifth round pick in a three team trade. Seattle retained 50% of Gourde's salary with Detroit retaining 25% of Gourde's salary. The Red Wings get a 2025 fourth-round pick for retaining salary.
# 26 - The New York Rangers receive the Dallas Stars 2026 first-round pick (via CAR) (better of either Dallas or Carolina), 2026 second-round pick, and Scott Morrow for K'Andre Miller. The Hurricanes received the Stars 2026 first-round pick (top 10 protected), 2028 first-round pick (top 10 protected), 2026 third-round, 2027 third-round, and Logan Stankoven for Mikko Rantanen.
# 29 - The St. Louis Blues received the Colorado Avalanche's 2026 first-round pick (via NYI), third-round pick, F Jonathan Drouin, and G Marcus Gidlof for F Brayden Schenn. The New York Islanders receive the Colorado Avalanche's 2026 first-round pick (or 2027 first-round pick), 2028 conditional third-round pick, and Oliver Kylington for Brock Nelson and William Dufour.
# 30 - The Calgary Flames receive the Vegas Golden Knights 2026 first-round pick, 2025 conditional third-round, and Daniil Miromanov for Noah Hanifin.
# 32 - The Ottawa Senators originally forfeited their 2026 first-round pick (their choice between 2024, 2025, 2026) as a penalty handed down by the NHL for the Evgenii Dadonov trade to the Vegas Golden Knights and subsequent voided trade to the Anaheim Ducks. On March 12th of 2026, the NHL awarded the Senators the 32nd pick of the 2026 instead of forfeiting it completely. If the Senators miss the playoffs and win the draft lottery, there will be a re-draw. The Senators had to pay a $1 million CDN fine and are not allowed to trade the pick.
