Liam Ruck's Player Profile

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - April 14th: "He led all draft eligibles with 45 goals, and that’s good for seventh in the country. Ruck is extremely dangerous around the net with a variety of quality shot choices at his disposal. His chemistry with his twin, Markus, was obvious from the get-go."

Dauton Reimer - The Hockey Writers - March 25th: "Despite losing McKenna, the Medicine Hat Tigers remained a powerhouse in the WHL thanks to Liam Ruck and his twin brother, Marcus. The two are close in skill, but Liam will likely be selected first because of his finishing ability. He’s a hard-working two-way player who demonstrates high awareness, excellent puck skills, and plenty of creativity when in close to the net."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 17th: "He’s a right-shot winger who has good touch, a quick release, likes to go short side and can pick his spots in the net — with an eagerness to try as a volume shooter. He skates well. He finds ways to take pucks to scoring areas, but can also work and score closer to the boards."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 17th: "Liam has averaged 18:06 of ice time over the course of the season while being deployed in a variety of roles. He’s trustworthy defensively, tracks back to assist in his own zone on time, and is especially dangerous off the rush and on the power play from his strong side."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - March 13th: "He continues to be one of the biggest risers in the draft thanks to his truly dominant offensive stylings in the WHL (alongside his twin). I love Liam’s work ethic, his defensive zone play and how mobile he is on the penalty kill. He’s an all-around player who might not be big but has all the tools to have a good NHL career."

Peter Baracchini - The Hockey Writers - March 10th: "He sees the ice very well and knows how to make himself open to finish off plays or set them up. He’s aggressive on the attack, intense on the forecheck and constantly making himself available in the middle of the ice. He’s tenacious and a player that will be a thorn in your side as he’s always engaging in battles."

Smaht Scouting - February 27th: "He’ll play the puck up to the point before taking a quick loop out the zone and then next thing you know he’s on the back door for an easy tap-in. Or while the puck is being played along the boards or in the corner, he’s shifting ever so slightly to be able to spring on the puck when it’s broken loose."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 25th: "He doesn’t dazzle you with individual skill, but he does make plays and his quick decision making allows him to pace the game as he wants. He’s represented Canada on a number of occasions. He’s won a WHL title, played in a Memorial Cup and is out to prove the Tigers are worthy as a back-to-back WHL title contenders."
