Jack Hextall's Player Profile

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - June 8th: "Hextall (6-foot, 188) is considered a playmaker, and the 18-year-old has taken significant strides since the start of the season, becoming more efficient and polished with the puck. Hextall creates separation with his smooth edgework, finding open lanes and developing into a more consistent scoring threat as the season progressed."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 3rd: "Hextall is a very smart player who does a lot of things well. He already protects the puck and stays over it like a pro, coming out of scrums with possession and winning a ton of engagements with a strong stick and NHL contact skills/body positioning. He's strong on his skates for a 6-foot player, which will help him stick at center up levels with all of his habits, details and that heavy stick of his."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - April 14th: "He was no stranger to dominant performances, showcasing a dynamic skill set with an endless motor. That’s what I love about his game – he won’t be a high-end producer in the NHL, but he can play a variety of roles while being effective. He has a good shot, but he’s even better as a set-up guy."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 17th: "Hextall is a very smart player who does a lot of things well. He already protects the puck and stays over it like a pro, coming out of scrums with possession. He's strong on his skates for a sub-6-foot player, which will help him stick at center up levels. He plays in all three zones and is committed defensively as a center."

Smaht Scouting - February 27th: "There’s been inconsistency with his production this year, but long-term, with his passing skill and feel for the game, there’s no doubt he could become a very strong NHL play-driver. Hextall plays within a structure very well, he rarely outskates his options or skates himself into trouble."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - February 23rd: "Hextall is quick and purposeful with the puck, constantly looking to attack up ice with a plan to deal with anything the opposing defense throws at him. He needs to get a bit stronger and learn to lean into the upper-echelon skill a bit more, but Hextall is a forechecking menace and a very nuanced player overall."
