Daxon Rudolph's Player Profile

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - June 8th: "The 18-year-old was third among WHL defensemen with 78 points (28 goals, 50 assists) in 68 games, and was even better during the WHL playoffs, tying for the league scoring lead with 27 points (eight goals, 19 assists), including three game-winning goals, in 19 games to help Prince Albert reach the WHL finals."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - June 8th: "Rudolph is close to NHL ready and projects as a top-four defenseman. He's strong in 1-on-1 battles, has a solid wrist shot and combines high hockey IQ with composure in transition."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 3rd: "Rudolph is an average skater who moves well and comfortably through his patterns but can look a little unorthodox doing it at times. He can manipulate coverage or jump off the line and has great hands one-on-one when he wants to challenge opposing players. He sees the ice well and can beat the first layer and then find the back door through a second layer. He defends the rush well and has a very good stick."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - April 14th: "Rudolph’s hockey sense is off the charts. He doesn’t try to do more than he’s capable of and force plays for the sake of making them. Instead, he plays to his strengths, which happens to be quite a few elements. He has a booming shot, makes great breakout passes and can knock guys down.

Dauton Reimer - The Hockey Writers - March 25th: "But what I’ve appreciated most about Rudolph’s game is his ability to stay calm no matter the situation; the higher the pressure, the calmer he is. Armed with a very high hockey sense, good size, and smooth skating, he should also be another highly sought-after defenceman this year."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 17th: "Rudolph is a good skater whose skating patterns, flow and edges are comfortable. He can manipulate coverage or jump off the line. He sees the ice well and can beat the first layer and then find the back door through a second layer. He defends the rush well and has a good stick. He’s a heady player who thinks the game well."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 17th: "His combination of size, skill, physicality and willingness to block shots are attractive attributes. The right-shot defenceman could develop into a top-pairing NHL blue liner in time."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - March 13th: "The Prince Albert defender has put up strong numbers this season, playing at a 75-point pace. Rudolph has a big 6-foot-2, 203-pound frame, and he’s exceptionally smart with and without the puck, too. The Raiders are primed for a long playoff run, so he’ll be one to watch when the games start to matter."

Peter Baracchini - The Hockey Writers - March 10th: "He defends rushes extremely well, showing great patience, great strong gap control and can break up plays with timely stick checks. In one-on-one situations, he’s assertive with his coverage and positioning, not giving up the middle of the ice easily and is quick to retrieve pucks leading to a quick breakout."

Smaht Scouting - February 27th: "Defensively however I’d still like to see him have more urgency. With his skill comes the impressive ability to get his stick on the puck, breaking up passes, or knocking it away from opposing players. He can win battles when he engages, but there are times where he gets caught flat footed or seems a step behind."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 25th: "He brings zest and flair to the table and no doubt leans to the offensive side. There are times where offence is too much of a focus that it detracts from the defensive side, but that will shift with maturity."
