Adam Novotny's Player Profile

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - April 14th: "He surpassed the 30-goal mark as an OHL rookie with Peterborough and easily finished as the Petes’ No. 1 scorer. Novotný loves to get the puck on net by any means necessary, and he’s a strong skater, too. I like his two-way work – he’s a full-time team player. There’s heavy top-six potential here."

Will Scouch - Scouching.ca - April 13th: "Dynamic, aggressive, making great forechecking reads, generating a ton of offense from scoring areas, chipping in through the neutral zone off the puck well, there’s plenty to love. His puck carrying results leave a lot to be desired, skating into pressure and trying to do too much himself with 50% of his attempts being carries with under a 50% success rate."

Dauton Reimer - The Hockey Writers - March 25th: "A fierce competitor and a fantastic skater, he’s been a huge part of the Peterborough Petes, even though he’s a rookie. He can duck in and out of traffic without losing the puck, has great stickwork both with and without the puck, and plays defence. He’s the whole package."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 17th: "Novotny is a 6-1, pro-built winger with a short but very powerful skating stride and legit speed. He’s also highly skilled offensively and plays the game with confidence as a shooter. He’s already strong, sturdy and stocky, with a thick lower half."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 17th: "He impressed me at the world juniors playing for Czechia, with his commitment off the puck defensively. His entire game revolves around his powerful frame and ability to use his size and strength to slide into shooting lanes on both sides of the play. His goal-scoring upside is his most elite element overall."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - March 13th: "He recently surpassed the 30-goal mark as an OHL rookie with Peterborough and will easily finish as the Petes’ No. 1 scorer. Novotný loves to get the puck on net by any means necessary, and he’s a strong skater, too. I like his two-way work – he’s a full-time team player. There’s heavy top-six potential here."

Peter Baracchini - The Hockey Writers - March 10th: "His play on both sides of the puck is evident as he has the smarts, skill and battler’s mindset to boot with his physicality and gets rewarded seemingly every time. He’s engaging and doesn’t shy away from the tough areas. He’s constantly cutting through defenders and handles pressure very well when in possession."

Smaht Scouting - February 27th: "Committed to both sides of the puck, Novotný is a super competitor and works hard to track back and break up lots of plays as well. There’s a lot to like about Novotný’s combination of tools, and he probably projects as one of the higher floor players in this class. How high he’s selected will likely depend on how much high-end offensive skill and play creation NHL teams believe he can bring at the next level."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 25th: "He is a team-first player, who works tirelessly on his game both in the gym and on the ice. He plays a hard and honest game. In OHL competition, his strength allows him to clear space and produce top-level numbers. He rarely passes up a shooting opportunity and doesn't need much time to really rip a puck."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - February 23rd: "It may have taken him a bit to get acclimated to the OHL, but Novotny has been one of the league's hottest players recently. His biggest strength is his transition ability through the middle of the ice. Novotny is an excellent puck carrier and the kind of skater who can weave his way into the offensive zone with relative ease."
