Maddox Dagenais' Player Profile

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - April 14th: "He has an NHL caliber-frame at 6-foot-4 and 196 pounds, and he’s extremely reliable at both ends of the ice. Dagenais isn’t flashy, but he’s smart, toolsy and plays with a ton of power. At times, he’s able to dominate the puck better than most other big forwards in this draft class. "

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 17th: "Dagenais is a strong center who, at his best, stays around and on the puck and shows confidence holding and shooting it. When he's engaged, going to the net, winning board battles and stacking positive shifts, he looks like a future middle-sixer NHLer who's going to score 20 goals. He has good skill."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 17th: "Dagenais provides a combination of power, speed and relentless compete. His offensive production comes largely as a result of his dogged approach. He’s contributed 28G-31A so far this season while averaging 18 minutes of ice time."

Peter Baracchini - The Hockey Writers - March 10th: "He has a lethal shot with great power and accuracy doing a lot of damage from far out. He’s physical and can push his way to the middle effectively while also getting the inside track along the boards to win puck battles. His energy and presence will make him an effective middle-six player."

Smaht Scouting - February 27th: "Off the rush, he isn’t as effective as you’d like even if the tools are there and despite having one of the very best shots of this entire draft class, he doesn’t get himself to places where he can use that shot to the best of it’s potential. The tendency to shoot from low-danger areas of the ice and pass out of shots unnecessarily is a bit concerning, but it’s nothing he can’t fix and with the basis of his game being so NHL-like, there isn’t much reason to think he can’t be a very solid bottom 6 player for an NHL team in the future."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 25th: "Dagenais has a shoot-first mentality, with a wicked shot that is both hard and accurate. Big, scoring centres are at the top of the food chain in the NHL and Dagenais certainly fits that bill."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - February 23rd: "Dagenais is a meat-and-potatoes, north-south center who makes the best simple plays he can. He uses his size to power through players, and he wins battles along the walls. He just doesn't have that extra gear in terms of creativity or raw skill."
