Ivar Stenberg's Player Profile

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - April 14th: "The floor is absolutely bonkers for Stenberg. There truly isn’t an area he struggles with. He’s incredible with the puck, has a fantastic shot and might have the second-best hockey sense of anyone in the draft behind McKenna. Stenberg’s production fell as the season wore on, but he still had one of the best seasons by a U-19 player in recent SHL history."

Will Scouch - Scouching.ca - April 13th: "His forechecking energy and turnover generation ability is awesome, tracking play with ease at the SHL level. His skill level may not match that of a Gavin McKenna, but the way which he uses it is so much more practical and effective in tougher scenarios."

Dauton Reimer - The Hockey Writers - March 25th: "e already plays a pro-style game, attacking the ice with confidence and placing himself in the perfect position to make things happen in the offensive zone. But what makes him my top-ranked prospect is his two-way game."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 17th: "The younger brother of St. Louis Blues first-rounder Otto, Ivar’s puck skill, offensive instincts, hockey IQ, combo scoring-playmaking package are all high-end. He makes guys miss with the puck on his stick, beats goalies one-on-one with his handles regularly and has both a lethal wrister release and a confident one-timer that give him quick-strike ability and power-play pop alongside his control and vision on the half wall."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 17th: "Stenberg’s three-zone detail is reliable. He never cheats the game defensively. Despite the fact his offence has been down recently, his plus/minus was even and he averaged 3.4 shots per game. His body of work this year has been exceptional."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - March 13th: "The fact that Stenberg has played consistently well against men, averaging 16-18 minutes a night, is impressive on its own. Stenberg generates high-quality plays as effectively and consistently as anyone in this draft class, while boasting some of the best vision and hockey sense of any forward."

Peter Baracchini - The Hockey Writers - March 10th: "Everything he does is at an NHL level. His vision, processing and instincts allows him to excel in any situation, always thinking one or two steps ahead of the opposition. He’s extremely deceptive with his movements and can shake defenders off with quick pivots when he has the puck."

Smaht Scouting - February 27th: "He’s shown a willingness to compete for pucks all over the ice, help facilitate transition deep in the defensive zone, block shots, and accumulated double as many drawn penalties as he’s taken so far this year. Offensively, his entire toolkit is quite impressive, but his vision is what stands out the most."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 25th: "At time of writing, Stenberg has 32 points in 36 games played. But Stenberg's status as the No. 1-ranked player is not just because of his point production. It’s his swagger, compete and the way he's played under pressure that keeps him there for now."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - February 23rd: "Stenberg's offensive game is only complemented by his two-way efficiency and willingness to go to the dirty areas. His transition game and forechecking are assets. In short, there isn't much that Stenberg can't do."
