2014 NHL Draft Notes
1st Round Draft Day Traded Picks
# 20 and # 26 - Chicago receives San Jose's 2014 1st round pick (# 20) and a 6th round pick (# 179) for Chicago's 2014 1st round pick (# 26) and a 3rd round pick (# 62) (via FLA).
1st Round Pre-Draft Traded Picks
# 10 - Anaheim receives Ottawa 2014 1st round pick, Jakob Silfverberg and Stefan Noesen for Bobby Ryan.
# 24 - Vancouver receives Anaheim's 2014 1st and 3rd round pick, Nick Bonino and Luca Sbisa for Ryan Kesler and a 3rd round pick.
# 28 - NY Islanders receives Tampa Bay's 2014 1st round pick (# 28 - via NYR) for a two 2014 2nd round picks (# 35 and # 57). Tampa Bay receives the NY Rangers 2014 1st round pick as the Rangers made it to the 2014 Eastern Conference Final. The Lightning receive Ryan Callahan, a 2015 1st round pick and a conditional 1st round pick for Martin St. Louis.
# 30 - The NHL alters their punishment on the Devils for the Ilya Kovalchuk cap circumvention. They are given the 30th overall pick in the 2014, which they are not allowed to trade or transfer to another team. The NHL is also forgiving $1.5 million of the fine. **Original penalty ** New Jersey must forfeit their 2014 1st round pick as a penalty from the NHL for circumventing the cap when signing Ilya Kovalchuk. They also forfeited their 2011 3rd round pick and $3 million.
* - Buffalo recieves St. Louis's 2014 1st round pick if the Blues re-sign Ryan Miller or if they trade his rights before the draft. If Miller signs or is traded after the draft, it becomes a 2016 2nd round pick. St. Louis receives Ryan Miller and Steve Ott for a conditional 2014 first round pick, a 2015 1st round pick, Jaroslav Halak, Chris Stewart and William Carrier.
