Brendan Perlini Profile

Brendan Perlini
Ht/Wt: 6' 3"/205 lbs
Position: LW
Team: Niagara (OHL)

Brendan Perlini's Player Profile

  • Size and speed – This is the right combination for an NHL winger and at 6’3, 205 lb. with excellent acceleration and quickness, Brendan has it.

  • Skills galore – Long reach, good puck possession, good shot, excellent passer.

  • Finish – Quick release, last minute dangle, down on one knee – what’s not to like!

  • Physicality – Needs to be more consistent in using his body to make things happen in the offensive zone because when he does, good things happen.

  • Draft placement – Latter half of top 10 if he continues to produce at a healthy clip; not likely to drop beyond 15 in any event.

  • Reminds me of – A hybrid combo of Jeff Carter with Max Pacioretty.
    Profile from: Eldon MacDonald and Chris Ralph of The Hockey Writers - updated Feb. 27th

    @IssHockey - "Great past month 23 PTS in 11 GP w/ +10 rating. Total package w/ lethal offensive weapons" - Nov. 23rd, 2013

    In the early years of Brandon Perlini's career in the OHL, he shares many similarities to Ryan Strome. Both were high draft picks if the Barrie Colts, but after failing to breakout were shipped to Niagara before the end of their rookie seasons (Strome for Pietrangelo and Perlini for Theoret). Both Perlini and Strome finished their rookie seasons strong in Niagara giving fans a glimpse of their potential and hope for the future. This year Perlini is on pace to finish the season with very comparable numbers to the numbers Strome set at the same age. However, the point projections and career movements are where the comparasins end. Strome is a dynamic playmaking center, while Brandon Perlini is a natural goal-scoring left winger.

    Perlini has found chemistry with Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Carter Verhange and the two have been relied upon heavily so far this season for the young Niagara Ice Dog team. The speedy winger is not overly physical, but he has an ability to break games open, and when he scores, he scores in bunches. Perlini's defensive zone play and willingness to get the the dirty areas of the rink are areas for improvement.
