New York Islanders Top Prospects

A look at the New York Islanders top prospects heading into the 2015-16 season. The write ups for the Islanders prospects are from mid-season, updating the progress of some of the Islanders top prospects.

Mathew Barzal: Center - 6'0" / 175
Drafted: 16th overall by the New York Islanders in 2015

Barzal is off to an excellent start to his draft + 1 season. In 28 games with the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds, he has equaled last season's goal total (12) and put up a ton of points with 46.

His strong play in the WHL earned him a spot on Team Canada where he showed pretty well scoring two goals and adding an assist in three games.

I was very high on the smooth-skating skilled forward entering the draft and maintain that he was a steal for the Islanders at 16.

He's already starting to show why. I think he'll be a full-time Islander within the next two years.

Michael Dal Colle: Left Wing - 6'2" / 190
Drafted: 5th overall by the New York Islanders in 2014

After a 42-goal, 93-point season with the Oshawa Generals in 2014-15, Dal Colle's production has fallen off a cliff.

Through 34 games he has just 13 goals and 35 points, although he has five goals and 10 points in four games since being traded to the Eastern Conference leading Kingston Frontenacs.

He'll be relied upon heavily by the Frontenacs down the stretch and will turn pro next season.

Ryan Pulock: Defenseman - 6'2" / 215
Drafted: 15th overall by the New York Islanders in 2013

Pulock has always been heavily praised for his offensive game and plus-shot. It seems that has translated nicely to the pro game.

In 90 games since the beginning of 2014-15, Pulock has scored 23 goals and tallied 46 points from the back end.

He could see some NHL action this season and is almost a lock to be a full time NHLer next year.
