William Hakansson's Player Profile
Corey Pronman - The Athletic - December 10th: "He competes hard, plays the body and can kill a lot of plays. His pure puck play won't overly excite teams, but he has decent enough hands and can make a reliable first pass."Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - December 8th: "He ties up sticks around the net, establishes position along the boards and uses his frame quite effectively overall. When he needs to throw his weight around, he's more than happy to. He will need to get stronger as he can get outmuscled by some veterans at the SHL level, but he's playing solid minutes at the pro level for a reason."
Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - December 1st: "He makes life difficult on opponents when the game slows down along the boards and out front of his net with his physicality. His skating is sound for a young player with his size and he generally keeps things simple with the puck, although he can surprise at times and lead the rush up ice before distributing to support arriving later in the sequence."
Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - November 19th: "Håkansson has been tall from a young age – it doesn’t hurt being 6-foot-4. He is already playing against men and doesn’t look out of place with his physicality. Seriously, he’ll do whatever it takes to keep you from getting close to the net, even if it ultimately penalizes him in the process."
Smaht Schouting - November 9th: "He’s a more classic-style defenseman, showing good mobility for his size, solid skating, and a reliable but direct first pass out of his own zone. He has the tools to secure possession behind his own net, executing safe exits while sealing off opponents or using his body effectively, though without being overly aggressive. "
Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Nov. 5th: "He's decently athletic and plays a hard and physical style. He skates well, falling back onto his heels and his edges comfortably for a player his age and size. I like his pivots. He can occasionally get a little jumpy on both sides of the puck, but he can shoot it and pass it and he walks the line well."
