Simas Ignatavicius' Player Profile
Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - April 14th: "He’s a 6-foot-3 forward having a solid season in Switzerland’s top league and has been downright dominant internationally. Ignatavicius is so versatile, finding so many different ways to impact the play both with and without the puck."Will Scouch - Scouching.ca - April 13th: "Nothing is particularly standout with Ignativicius but I mean that in a good way. He’s a decently mobile, intelligent passer who, similar to a player like Hemming could use more skill development on pass receptions especially. Too many pucks bled through him for my liking, and considering how he thrives off his awareness and pass vision, he’ll get more reps to show that off if he can settle play a little bit better than he does."
Dauton Reimer - The Hockey Writers - March 25th: "A smart, two-way player, Simas Ignatavicius is seemingly always in the right spot at the right time. He is aware of the play around him and positions himself to support it, but also be ready to go where it’s headed. "
Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 17th: "Ignatavicius is a good skater who drives with the puck, works without it and has good hands and an NHL shot out that allow him to finish when he gets the puck in the slot, on the flank or in open ice off the rush. He protects the puck well off his hip and continues to learn how to best use his size."
Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 17th: "Ignatavicius is an excellent skater in open ice and equal parts shooter/distributor. He’s especially creative on the power play, working off the weak side flank and up top in the offensive zone. When Ignatavicius isn’t producing offence, he makes sure he’s above the play and tracking the entire 200 feet."
Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - March 13th: "The 6-foot-3 winger is so versatile, finding so many different ways to impact the play both with and without the puck. Ignatavicius is good defensively, has a great shot release, has obvious muscle and is incredibly skilled, too."
Smaht Scouting - February 27th: "Ignatavicius is a pace-supported forward who plays with structure, rotational awareness, and comfort operating within layered offensive zone sequences. He stays connected to the play, adjusts positioning intelligently when the puck shifts sides, and is willing to rotate high or cover for pinching defensemen to maintain structure."
Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 25th: "He is a bit of an unknown, and trying to get a handle on him in comparison to the rest of the draft class has to be done in a vacuum. He has size, is willing to go in on the forecheck, he’s smart and selective in terms of positioning and he skates well. His puck handles are more than adequate and he has a history of producing in low level international play. With all of that said, a team will have to be confident everything will translate against better competition, and ultimately at the NHL level."
