Victor Eklund's Player Profile

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - June 10th: "Victor is an excellent skater. He has good speed, but his edge work is what separates his skating ability and how elusive he is in tight. He's a very skilled forward who makes creative plays and can do so in the tough areas. Eklund is undersized, but he plays like a big man."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - June 9th: "He relishes contact and uses his strong skating to be first in on the forecheck. He also held up well against older competition; the 18-year-old led all under-20 players in Allsvenskan with 31 points (19 goals, 12 assists) in 42 games, and had six points (two goals, four assists) in seven games for Sweden at the 2025 WJC."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - June 9th: "Eklund is slight in stature but enjoys a physical style and has a good work ethic, a quality he learned from his older brother, Sharks forward William Eklund, the No. 7 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 2nd: "The younger brother of Sharks first-rounder William Eklund, Victor gets above-average grades for his smarts, skill and skating, but he’s also a standout competitor who works and plays hard for a 5-foot-11 winger. He wins races. He keeps his feet moving."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 27th: "Eklund is so, so skilled. He makes things happen with the puck that very few can, and he’s got an excellent shot, to boot. I loved him at the World Juniors because it felt like he was always involved in the puck play."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - May 12th: "He has a very underrated shot, and he’s always crashing the slot. Eklund is a menace on the forecheck, blending his physicality with his skill to pull pucks out of trouble and into potentially dangerous situations."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 26th: "Martin never cuts corners. He only weighs 178 pounds, but plays much bigger than his listed size. He finishes all of his checks, battles in the trenches, drives to the net and makes life generally miserable for opponents."

Smaht Scouting - March 23rd: "Brady Martin projects as a dependable 3C at the NHL level, offering flashes of smart playmaking and strong puck protection, particularly when moving in straight lines. He’s comfortable threading passes through tight windows—often slipping pucks under sticks into the slot—and shows good puck security when handling pressure head-on through the neutral zone."
