Malcolm Spence's Player Profile

Ryan Kennedy - The Hockey News - January 27th: "I don't know yet if scouts love Spence as much as I do, but I see a powerful left winger with excellent playmaking skills and vision. He's got an NHL frame, he kills penalties, and he has a clutch gene in big games."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - January 22nd: "Consistency is the key element in his game. Like few others his age, Spence brings consistent effort, point production and defensive detail to the table each night."

Hannah Stuart - Bleacher Report - January 20th: "We like Spence's tenacity and relentless nature; he's a physical guy who can get in your face, and then go finish off a play you didn't notice happening because he was trying to annoy the bejesus out of it. That's always a useful player to have."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - January 16th: "I love Frondell’s shot – it’s such a dangerous release in open space. He likes to hit people and is a great playmaker, too. But until he’s able to truly dominate games at any level, I am concerned about his ability to be a top-six forward in the NHL."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - Dec. 17th: "A physical, do-it-all forward who always seems to know what to do. His understanding of how to positively impact the game in various ways allows him to have a good game even when his A-game isn’t present."

Smaht Scouting - Dec. 10th: "Firstly, Spence is arguably a more “complimentary” player even at the junior level. He can finish plays, support transition, create space off the puck… but he is not really “the man” on his line who drives play and makes things happen."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - Dec. 3rd: "He's an excellent skater in open ice and plenty quick in small areas. Spence attacks the net when he creates turnovers in the offensive zone and pushes defenders back in transition. Opponents can't sleep on him when he's killing penalties."
