Cameron Reid's Player Profile

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 26th: "Reid is compact in stature, but plenty strong in the trenches. He doesn’t shy away from physical contact, but his most elite element is his skating ability. Reid has the agility and explosiveness to close on opponents defensively and spin off checks to launch the attack offensively."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 25th: "He can influence play with his feet, whether that’s defending and closing gaps, escaping pressure, transporting pucks or getting open and active off the puck. He’s a heady, offensively inclined player but he defends well with a good stick and sense for timing and disruption and has been a major driver of two-way results for the Rangers this season."

Craig Button - TSN - March 25th: "Cameron Reid is a 5-foot-11 and a half defenceman who can skate, think, compete and contribute offensively. You got Jackson Smith, elite skating defenceman, big, rangy. You got Radim Mrtka, who’s a right-shot defenceman, 6-foot-5, all kinds of potential."

Smaht Scouting - March 23rd: "With the puck, Reid flashes upside as a puck mover—capable of joining the cycle, executing clean passes off the wall, and supporting transition when space is available. He’s confident pinching up to keep plays alive in the offensive zone and can make quick reads into the slot. That said, his decision-making under pressure can be inconsistent."

Kareem Elshafey - FC Hockey - March 9th: "Reid is a player who fits on any blue line. He’s an above average skater who can get the puck up to his forwards and doesn’t put the puck in harms way. He’s been a significant riser with how well he’s played this season."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - February 28th: "His creativity as a passer and willingness to jump into the rush or pinch in off the point added an offensive threat to the Rangers that opposing teams struggle to defend. His defensive game is a bit hit-or-miss at this stage, but when he's defending with his feet and thwarting the rush before his team gets pinned in their zone, Reid can be effective at that end of the ice, too."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - February 26th: "Continues to make strides towards the top half of this draft class. His elite skating ability makes him a threat on the power play, but also allows him to maintain tight gaps to disrupt plays in neutral ice."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - February 21st: "Reid, a left-handed shot, has a lot of the same characteristics offensively, driven by his skating, his ability to break pucks out with his feet, and his smarts in transition. But he's more well-rounded defensively and can use that speed to break up plays and close out attacking forwards."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - February 21st: "The left-handed shot logs big minutes, can quarterback a power play and is a very underrated defender."
