Zayne Parekh's Player Profile

Rachel Doerrie - ESPN - April 2nd: "His defensive game has improved but will need to continue to develop. At the NHL level, if he can use his footwork and engage physically more consistently, his offense will carry him. Buffalo is adding the future quarterback of its power play with this selection."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - March 25th: " He likes to roam, but he's also learning to pick his spots better and his head is constantly on a swivel to identify where he is in relation to his teammates. When he plays freely, which is almost always, you're drawn to him whenever he touches the puck because he's always a threat to make something happen."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - March 13th: "An Erik Karlsson-type player who is the best defenceman at creating offence in this class. He has a boatload of confidence with the puck on his stick, often baiting and evading defenders to open pass or shooting lanes."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - March 12th: "He picks off a lot of passes and makes stops but will likely never be a tough minutes defender. He projects as a top pair/PP1 type who may need to be deployed away from opponents’ top forwards."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - March 9th: "Parekh is downright lethal with the disk, especially as a power-play quarterback. The upside is tremendous – you don’t find defenders as elusive as him often. But defensively, it’s still a work of progress."

Peter Baracchini - The Hockey Writers - March 7th: "The smarts and awareness he possesses in the offensive zone is outstanding, knowing when to activate, join the rush or be a factor on the cycle. He’s constantly finding himself in the open areas to release his swift and quick wrist shot as he has great velocity and is extremely deceptive with his puck skills."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - March 1st: "The 18-year-old right-handed shot moves the puck well, plays with an edge and exhibits confidence on the power play, evidenced by his 32 power-play points (10 goals, 22 assists)."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - February 27th: "Zayne is a dynamic talent. He’s equal parts shooter and distributor when quarterbacking the power play. He’s an elusive defenceman who walks the offensive blue line to open lanes."
