Sam O'Reilly's Player Profile

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - June 11th: "O’Reilly is still raw in some categories. He’s scratching the surface of his overall ability. His small area agility and edges have room to improve, but it doesn’t hold him back at this stage of his development."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - June 11th: "O'Reilly (6-1, 184) is a very good skater who plays a competitive, 200-foot game and seemed to earn more ice time on a very talented London team as the season went on. The 18-year-old led OHL rookies during the playoffs with 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 16 games."

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 3rd: "He plays a mature, well-rounded game highlighted by good hockey sense and improving touch on the puck. He has a good work ethic on the ice and wins his share of battles. He’s likely going to be more of a depth player if he makes it, but he really improved over the course of the season and turned himself into a quality draft prospect."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 3: "O'Reilly does the little things really well, whether that’s making good little plays off the wall, stick lifts, his board work offensively, spinning off a check to create a little bit of space to funnel a play to the slot, or defending with detail. He’s also a natural center who is good in the faceoff circle and a plus-level skater and athlete."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - May 28th: "O'Reilly has quality skill and vision and can create chances. He has a decent shot but I like him more when he's making plays. He has the potential to be a bottom-six center in the league."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 28th: "O’Reilly has been one of the biggest movers in the draft rankings due to his play as a smart, two-way center. He had a solid playoff run, too, playing a great secondary role."

Hadi Kalakeche - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 20th: "O’Reilly’s role for London this year is most likely the role he’ll be limited to in the NHL: a bottom-six penalty-killer who chips in on a second line from time to time. However, few in the OHL do it as well as he does."
