John Mustard's Player Profile
Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 3rd: "A speedy goal scorer who can make plays, Mustard made a good first impression in the USHL last season. A hot start really put Mustard on the map, but the offense cooled as the season progressed and tapered some of the overall expectations."Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 3: "He's a tremendous skater who uses his speed to get out in transition, turn defenders with the puck, get on pucks and win races. A Providence commit, he should fit well with the Friars’ staff and identity as a hardworking forward who gets after it."
Corey Pronman - The Athletic - May 28th: "His compete is okay. He isn't overly physical and doesn't kill penalties but his effort is good enough. If that part of his game improves he has a clear path to being a regular NHL player but his skating should get him games."
Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 28th: "He’s really smart, plays with pace and has a great shot. Mustard isn’t flashy, but I could see Mustard’s work ethic allowing him to get the job done in a team’s bottom six."
David Saad - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 20th: "The dynamic winger has already done everything to prove he can carry pucks and score off of them, but as he started playing more of a team-game Mustard’s flaws came into focus. Primarily, how raw of a talent he truly is and how lacking his playmaking game currently is."
Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - Apr. 15th: "Mustard has a wicked quick release. When attacking downhill off the rush, there aren’t many players who can put a defender on their heels the way Mustard can. There are times when Mustard puts the blinders on, and he doesn’t really use his teammates."
