Henry Mews's Player Profile

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - June 11th: "He grew up playing forward then switched to defence full time before entering the OHL. There’s some risk/reward with his approach, but there’s also no denying he can be a difference maker offensively."

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 3rd: "An offensively-gifted right-shot defenseman, Mews can make a ton of plays with the puck on his stick. He’s shifty and has good enough quickness to create more time and space to make the plays he’s capable of making. Defensively, I had a lot of concerns and sometimes wondered about his overall competitive drive."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 3: "Mews is an athletic, right-handed shot who is capable (keyword) of consistently driving and tilting play from the back end. When he’s at his best, he dictates play by regularly looking to activate into the rush or off the line to use his skill and playmaking ability from the back end."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - May 28th: "He struggled in his own end, getting pushed around physically. He was a decent defender coming up so I wonder if he can bounce back in that regard. He's skilled enough to get NHL games but will need to round out his play, especially as an average-sized player."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 28th: "Defensively, I feel like he was physical, cut off angles well and did a good job of keeping the puck in the zone in all situations. Mews made some smart decisions with the puck and was the team’s top power-play quarterback, a role I expect him to thrive in once he’s an NHLer."

Jordan Harris - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 20th: "Mews is an interesting case study. He’s very clearly an offensively tilted defenseman playing in a very conservative defensive structure in Ottawa. Despite the system, Mews produced at nearly a point per game pace this season, mainly due to effective puck movement and passing."
