Adam Jiricek's Player Profile

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - June 11th: "He’s versatile, smart, and competitive. In time he will add more strength to his frame and should approach 200 pounds. His hockey sense and secondary offence project him as a top four NHL defender in time."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - June 11th: "Jiricek, who turns 18 the first night of the draft, only played 19 games in the top league in the Czech Republic because of a knee injury, but is expected to be healthy for the start of next season, when he should be able to again show his strong skating and an offensive game that projects to get better as he adjusts to playing a full season in the top men's league."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - June 11th: "Jiricek (6-2, 178) sustained a season-ending injury to his right knee while playing for Czechia in the first game of the 2024 WJC on Dec. 26. The 17-year-old right-handed shot had one assist in 19 games in Czech Extraliga, the nation's top professional league."

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 3rd: "When healthy, Jiricek has shown good mobility and mature puck-moving capabilities. He’s a solid defender who doesn’t back down and can use his 6-foot-2 frame to his advantage, even if he's not as physically strong as his opponents."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 3: "He doesn’t have quite the presence his brother has, but Adam plays the game with confidence and intention and has shown real ambition at times against his peers. He’s got good four-way mobility, an active disposition (he has also shown at the pro level that he can simplify and play a more effective game), balanced shooting mechanics, and an eye for spacing and for identifying opportunities to jump on both sides of the puck, plus legit skill with the puck to build upon."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - May 28th: "Offensively he doesn't stand out, but he has some skill and moves pucks efficiently. It's hard to tell which version of Jiricek we saw this season is the real one, but it's probably somewhere in the middle. That Jiricek still looks like a potential top four NHL defenseman."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 28th: "The 6-foot-2 defender has one assist in 19 games but was a key part of the Czechs’ national junior program, playing nearly 20 games between the U-18 and U-20 teams. It’s shame we didn’t get to see him have a second-half push."

Sebastian High - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 20th: "His inconsistency, struggles with composure, erratic on-puck decision making, and the ugly knee injury have led to him slipping down our board, but his upside could have us thinking about swinging on him as early as the mid-teens. We’re very curious to see where he ends up being selected and how his D+1 development unfolds."

Central Scouting - Apr. 16th: "Still at his best in the defensive zone, where he is an effective checker who stays with his man. Excellent competitor who works hard on every shift. Keeps his play simple and effective. Has all the tools needed to become a star. "

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - Apr. 15th: "He was a little tepid in the Czech men’s league at times when the puck was on his stick, but it generally meant that he opted for the safe play rather than trying to be a creator from the back end. With that said, there are so many traits that should lead to at least solid offensive skills as he matures a bit more physically and grows into his frame."
