Riley Heidt's Player Profile

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 7th: "Heidt doesn’t have the size factor in his favor, but he absolutely torched the WHL this season, has high-end vision and can make some really good soft-skill plays."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - June 5th: "Riley Heidt is a silky-smooth passer who uses deception as a playmaker to enhance his offensive game. It’s not often a player can make passes cross-body or with the puck pulled into his feet the way Heidt does, but that ability to contort his body position and make a pass from irregular positions has been noticeable in Heidt’s game."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 5th: "He’s also a strong skater who is light on his edges, plays with jump, builds speed quickly into flight to put defenders on their heels and/or create separation, leads a lot of neutral-zone carries into entries, and makes plays into space for himself or his linemates at pace, though he can over-pass at times (to the point where he passes up good looks). He’ll make plays through seams."

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 1st: "With high-end vision and playmaking ability, Heidt has potential to be an offensive weapon at the higher levels. His skating, however, leaves some to be desired and that’s where I grow a little leery of his potential to fit into a top six."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - May 30th: "He hits seams at a high rate and makes a lot of creative passes. The question on him will be whether a 5-foot-10 forward with mediocre speed and compete is going to make a dent in the NHL."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 29th: " I know scouts were hoping to see him remain a consistent producer throughout the year – no issues there. It’s his play away from the puck that some are more concerned about."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - May 5th: "Skill element is attractive. When engaged he is difficult to defend in small areas and off the rush. Leans distributor more than shooter. Picks his spots playing fast. Off the puck detail, defensive zone exits and secondary battle became more of a concern down the stretch when games got more difficult"
