Gracyn Sawchyn's Player Profile

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - June 5th: "Sawchyn plays a slick game with some of the best hands in the draft and excellent vision. Sawchyn’s value goes well beyond the stat sheet. He understands the flow of the game, dictating what happens on the ice with the puck on his stick and interjecting himself when it’s on his opponents."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 5th: "He’s a light 157 pounds, but defenders have a tough time marking him. I like his competitiveness in battles and on the puck as well. Add in some positional and special-teams versatility (he can play centre or the wing, and the power play and penalty kill) and you’ve got my interest."

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 1st: "One of the more gifted puckhandlers in the draft, Sawchyn has creativity and the ability to extend plays with his sure-handedness. He averaged a point per game on one of the best teams in junior hockey and has the hockey sense to make a lot of good things happen."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - May 30th: " I wouldn't call his offensive game truly top end for the NHL, but he can beat opponents with his hands and makes a lot of plays. I would like to see him finish more of the chances he gets, though. His skating stride is awkward looking, but has pro power in it."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 29th: "After scoring at a point-per-game pace, it worked, but he’s just incredibly smart and deceptive with the puck. He’ll be a solid playmaker one day."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - May 5th: "Leans playmaker more than shooter. Is a threat off the rush not due to speed, but due to his creative puck skill and ability to make plays in tight quarters. Difficult to defend. Slips off checks."
