William Wallinder's Player Profile

Jokke Nevalainen - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 30th: "Wallinder is a puck-rusher who loves to take the puck in his own end and carry it to the opposing end while stick-handling in the middle. He’s a big player, yet has the skating ability and hands to be able to play that style."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 21st: "Wallinder still has some work to do to round out his game with the puck. He can look off-balance through his shot, which speaks to some technique that needs cleaning up because he’s not getting the most out of his big frame."

Steve Kourmianos - The Draft Analyst - Aug. 10th: "Wallinder is a graceful skater with a long stride who takes the puck for a skate with confidence, but he also lets opponents detect his presence with hard checks, active stick work, and an occasional face wash."

Chris Peters - ESPN - June 30th: "He has a big frame but needs to tack on some muscle. And while he has some intriguing offensive skills, he needs to finish plays better than he does."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - June 25th: "Excellent mobility for his size (6-foot-4). Shows poise and patience in his decision making."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - June 23rd: "The left-shot defenseman, who has a style similar to Travis Sanheim of the Philadelphia Flyers, is at his best in the defensive zone but showed an improving offensive game by joining the rush and getting the puck to the net."

Chris Haddad - The Hockey Writers - May 11th: "William Wallinder’s a puck-moving defenseman with plus size who was the third-highest under-18 scoring defenseman in the Swedish Elite Under 20 League (U-20 SuperElit) in 2019-20 (21 points in 25 games)."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Apr. 8th: "His size and skating jump out immediately. Looking to find the balance between poise and urgency."

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 1st: "Large and in-charge. A lot of upside. Quality feet. Quick outlets. Not afraid to jump into the rush. Looked competent in a pro league as a young ’02."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Mar. 20th: "The left-shot defenseman is at his best in the defensive zone but has an improving offensive game evidenced by the fact he likes to join the rush and get the puck to the net."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Mar. 6th: "The left-handed shot is at his best in the defensive zone but has an improving offensive game evidenced by the fact he likes to join the rush and get the puck to the net."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Mar. 4th: "Fascinating puck-mover with size and skating ability. Think Alexander Edler, whose value may not be truly appreciated until later in his career."
