Lucas Raymond's Player Profile

Jokke Nevalainen - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 30th: "Raymond is a play-driving winger who can control the pace of the game. He is calm and confident with the puck because he knows he can trust his quick hands and feet to get out of trouble."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 21st: "Since the SHL’s return, Raymond, finally playing in a role that suits him, has been sensational, frequently looking like one of Frölunda’s best players. That play follows a draft year where he never played to that level or wasn’t allowed to — or both."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - Aug. 25th: "The 18-year-old plays a strong two-way game with excellent vision, intensity, a good wrist shot and a nose for the net, and he's a tremendous asset on the power play and penalty kill."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - Aug. 25th: "Raymond has a high hockey IQ that helps him offensively and makes him reliable defensively. He scored 10 points (four goals, six assists) but averaged 9:48 of ice time in 33 SHL games."

Steve Kourmianos - The Draft Analyst - Aug. 10th: "His nonstop motor, high IQ, and smothering neutral-zone coverage make him dependable off the puck."

Chris Peters - ESPN - June 30th: "Raymond has been one of the hardest players to evaluate in this class because he is too good for Sweden's junior league but not quite good enough to play an elevated role on a perennial SHL powerhouse laden with veteran talent."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - June 25th: "Moves so well with great vision and that combination will allow him to make his NHL linemates better."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - June 22nd: "Raymond (5-11, 170) plays a strong two-way game with excellent vision, intensity and a good wrist shot. The 18-year-old is regarded as having a nose for the net and has shown himself to be a tremendous asset on the power play and the penalty kill."

Ryan Kennedy - The Hockey News - May 11th: "Though he didn’t put up massive numbers, Raymond was playing on a deep, veteran squad and scouts know how much talent he has."

Alex Chauvancy - The Hockey Writers - May 11th: "He’s always chasing the puck and creating havoc for opposing defenders. And when he has puck possession in the offensive zone, he thrives on his playmaking and ability to set up scoring chances. His shot could use a bit of work, but it’s not a detriment. That should come with age, too, as he bulks up from 165 pounds."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Apr. 8th: "Brings a well-rounded skill set to the table. Makes plays in small areas and isn’t afraid to get his nose dirty."

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 1st: "An explosive winger who is equally dangerous with his shot or pass. Moves with quickness and handles the puck at a high-level even at top speed. His puck skills are fluid, controlled and capable of embarrassing."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Mar. 20th: "He plays a strong two-way game with excellent vision, intensity and a good wrist shot. Raymond, who had 10 points (four goals, six assists) and 32 shots on goal while averaging 9:48 in ice time in 33 SHL games, has a nose for the net and is a tremendous asset on the power play and penalty kill."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Mar. 6th: "He plays a strong two-way game, offering excellent vision, intensity and good wrist shot."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Mar. 4th: "Tough player to nail down based on limited opportunity in the SHL. There’s still plenty of book on this player for the sheer number of games he’s played above his age group."

Steve Koumianos - The Draft Analyst - Feb. 20th: "An aggressive dual threat with excellent speed and overall quickness, Raymond may very well be the first Swede taken off the board in June; possibly as high as the second overall pick. The stats are far from impressive, but keep in mind that his Frolunda Indians are a perennial SHL powerhouse with multiple league titles, thus making it difficult for a 17-year-old forward to have a significant role."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Feb. 5th: "Good hands, can play fast, has excellent creativity and playmaking ability. Stuck between leagues the same way as Holtz."

Tony Ferrari - Dobber Prospects - Jan. 29th: "While many have downgraded Lucas Raymond based on his lack of production, opportunity, and visibility, the skill-set and IQ that the young Swede possesses is far too tantalizing for a drop in these rankings. He has the upside of an elite scoring winger who plays a solid 200-foot game, nearly equaling the potential of Lafrenière and Byfield."
