Jake Sanderson's Player Profile

Tony Ferrari - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 30th: "His defensive game was always his called card. He defends transitions as well as almost anyone in the draft and has high-level defensive IQ. His size, strength, and smooth skating make him dangerous in all three zones."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 21st: "And he plays a hard-nosed style that teams covet. I would, however, dispute his offensive upside. Where some scouts feel he has the potential to become a first-pairing defenceman, I have some reservations."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - Aug. 25th: "Sanderson is a mobile, puck-moving, left-shot defenseman who defends with aggression and passion. He scored 29 points (seven goals, 22 assists) in 47 games and is committed to play at the University of North Dakota next season."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - Aug. 25th: "He's an outstanding skater whose game got better as the season went on. Sanderson's defensive play already is strong, and his offensive game is catching up quickly."

Steve Kourmianos - The Draft Analyst - Aug. 10th: "Although Jamie Drysdale is considered to be more explosive and creative, Sanderson’s smoothness, high hockey IQ and stickhandling should not be overlooked. He too possesses elite skating abilities in addition to providing a smothering, physical presence."

Chris Peters - ESPN - June 30th: "Sanderson's offensive skills are not necessarily the strongest points of his game, but he has a great understanding of how to make plays when they're available to him. He's not going to force it just to force it."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - June 25th: "A natural-born leader who was just starting to show a more potent offensive side to his game before the shutdown."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - June 23rd: "Sanderson is to the 2019-20 NTDP U-18 team what Jack Hughes was to it last season: its most valuable player. The son of former NHL forward Geoff Sanderson is a mobile puck mover with a dominant defensive mindset and steadily improving offensive game."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Apr. 8th: "Comes by his pro mentality honestly and was in the midst of a second-half surge when hockey shut-down."

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 1st: "A raw defender who oozes potential. His game seemed to transform as the season wore on. Has all-around upside, including untapped offensive skills. Someone will fall in love early."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Mar. 20th: "Sanderson, the son of former NHL forward Geoff Sanderson, a mobile puck-mover with a dominant defensive mindset and an improving offensive game. He had 29 points (seven goals, 22 assists) in 47 games and will attend the University of North Dakota next season."
