Helge Grans's Player Profile

Jokke Nevalainen - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 30th: "Grans has the size and skating ability that every team covets, and having a right-handed shot obviously doesn’t hurt either. His performance at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup was a black mark on his draft season but everything he did with Malmö was almost the opposite of that."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 21st: "He’s long, he can skate, he handles the puck well for his size, he can make plays as a passer on outlets or through seams in the offensive zone, and there’s a confidence to his game that enables him to take risks and execute."

Chris Peters - ESPN - June 30th: "Grans has a lot of good tools that teams search for in defensemen, including size and pretty solid passing skills. My biggest concern is his skating."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - June 23rd: "Grans played 21 games for Malmo in the Swedish Hockey League, scoring three points (one goal, two assists). He's not overly physical but offers good vision and understanding of the game, can move and can transition the puck well."

Alexander Desrochers Ayotte - The Hockey Writers - May 22nd: "Grans’ positional intelligence, mobility and size will be important factors towards his development. He excels in transition and in bringing the puck to the net, important assets for taking the next step. He has the potential to make the jump to the NHL in a few seasons, after gaining more responsibility in the Swedish Elite League in 2020-21."

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - Apr. 1st: "Smooth-skating, transitional defender. Enjoys activating off of the rush and owns a big point shot. Isn’t as advanced defensively but has the physical tools to get there. Can make questionable decisions with and without the puck."

Steve Koumianos - The Draft Analyst - Feb. 20th: "When all aspects are humming, Grans can be the best player on the ice well beyond simply taking the puck for a skate or slinging pucks on net. Granted, he holds a significant size advantage over most teenage opponents and plays in a league not necessarily known for a physical forecheck."

Tony Ferrari - Dobber Prospects - Jan. 29th: "Grans doesn’t have the creativity of Wallinder but he does take a few risks at both ends of the ice. He does a decent job defensively but shows his intelligence with his positioning."
