Alexis Lafreniere's Player Profile

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Dec. 4th: "Mystery surrounding his absence from the CIBC Canada-Russia series along with an incident involving an official, have shown an edgier side."

Will Scouch - Scouching.ca - Nov. 19th: "Lafrenière is a truly gifted hockey player who just seems to get it. Tremendously smart all around, great skill, great scoring instincts and pushes play at both ends extremely well. His skating is awkward, but not slow, and he can control the flow of the game at his pace."

Ryan Kennedy - The Hockey News - Nov. 10th: "Makes everyone around him better. One of the best at the World Junior Summer Showcase. He’s lighting up the ‘Q.’"

Tony Ferrari -Wings Nation - Nov. 4th: "Lafrenière is a do-it-all player who won’t need to rely on a player who fishes the puck out of piles or wins races to loose pucks because he does that too. He is an “Elite skilled grinder” in the same mold and playing style of former Rimouski star Sidney Crosby (stylistically, not a direct comparison)."

Scott Wheeler -The Athletic - Nov. 4th: "… his strength, his unique ability to protect the puck out wide or through traffic, his touch around the net, his sublime playmaking ability and the fact that despite having all of those skills, he’s smart enough to know when to use them and when to make the simple play."

Chris Peters -ESPN - Oct. 22nd: "An intelligent, aggressive forward who has shown improvement away from the puck, Lafreniere is an absolute highlight machine. He has high-end puck skills but also uses his frame well to create space for himself."

Corey Pronman -The Athletic - Oct. 15th: "He can dangle defenders like few others, while also making incredible passes and scoring goals from a distance. He’s not a soft perimeter player, but he is a player who gets inside and has a competitive edge."

Sam Cosentino -Sportsnet - Oct. 2nd: "Projected as the top pick for this draft as far back as two years ago, there will be pressure for him to maintain this status while taking on all challengers at home and abroad."

Bob McKenzie -TSN - Sept. 16th: "Many scouts agree that Lafreniere doesn’t necessarily possess elite skill in any single category but is very good to great in so many of them that the total package simply can’t miss. However, one scout said his competitiveness and will to be great are elite and – combined with way-above-average hockey sense/vision and a strong skill set to score or make plays equally well – ensure he’s a blue-chip prospect."

Craig Button -TSN - Sept. 16th: "High end offensive talent who is an excellent playmaker and has the scoring ability to impact the game. Finds ways to be the difference maker at key times."

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 2nd: "A premier, point-producing machine off of the wing. Extremely dangerous in one-on-one situations. Scores in a variety of ways. Brings the noise. Can still improve on his two-step quickness and hitting the top gear sooner… but we’re nitpicking."
