Philip Broberg's Player Profile

Sam Conentino - SportsNetFeb. 13th: "Currently too good to play in the U20 Swedish League, but not quite there to have an impact in the Allsvenskan."

Cam Robinson - Dobber ProspectsFeb. 6th: "One of the more powerful skating strides in this class. At his size, his ability to wheel out of the zone is remarkable. Lacks the puck-handling skills necessary to be proficient offensively at it at this stage though. Can be accused of trying to do too much and cause turnovers."

Ryan Kennedy - The Hockey NewsFeb. 1st: "Broberg made the Swedish world junior team, but didn’t play much due to a combination of his youth and the fact he got that wicked flu that ravaged the team. But his excellent skating prowess, offensive upside and size make him a very tantalizing defensive prospect."

Steve Kournianos - Sporting NewsJan. 31st: "A wonderful skater with size and sharp instincts, Broberg at this stage of his development remains a huge swing for the fences if he goes high in the first round. He checks all the block on offense, but his defense leaves a lot to be desired."

Bob McKenzie - TSNJan. 24 th: "Philip Broberg, the 6-foot-2-3/4, 199-pound offensive defenceman from Sweden who plays for AIK in Sweden’s second-level professional league. Broberg appears to be the only legitimate threat to Bowen Byram as the top defenceman in the draft. Broberg is considered an excellent skater who, as one scout put it, is a “one-man breakout” who exhibits strong offensive tendencies."

Hannah Stuart - theScoreJan. 9th: "Broberg, a smooth-skating defenseman with power behind his stride … While he's got space for growth (especially with his puckhandling skills), Broberg projects to be a solid player at the next level."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Dec. 12th: "Big defender who skates well. Late invite to Sweden’s WJC camp in the wake of Timothy Liljegren’s injury — can he capitalize on the opportunity?"
