Dante Fabbro's Player Profile
Craig Button TSN - March 22, 2016 - "Dante Fabbro (#12) will never pull you out of your seat, but when you measure high-end efficiency in the game, he stands out. The Penticton Vees defender always makes the right play, is always in the right position and doesn’t break down under the challenges, which makes it very difficult to play versus him. I see so many similarities to Brent Seabrook of the Chicago Blackhawks. Like Seabrook, Fabbro’s contributions lead to winning."The Draft Analyst - March 15, 2016 - "Fabbro likes to play an up-tempo game, breaking out of his zone with either short bursts of speed or a hard, accurate head man. He can identify and exploit gaps, including ones with a closing window of opportunity. He has above-average balance and the type of coast-to-coast ability to thwart tight-checking schemes. Crossing the red line is rarely an adventure, as he will either slow down the pace or take the puck wide and into the opposing zone. He has very good hands and can handle a tough pass during the back-and-forth nature of a power play. Fabbro possesses a very good shot and an early-season issue with accuracy seems to have been rectified."
Ryan Kennedy of The Hockey News - February 23, 2016 - "The Boston University commit is a top-20 scorer in the BCHL, despite being a defenseman. He has 63 points in 42 games and has scouts on high alert. One NHL evaluator even told me that Fabbro is “basically like an NHL player already,” thanks to the way he processes the game and gets pucks through. While WHL Seattle pushed hard for his services, Fabbro stayed in Penticton this year to preserve his NCAA status."
Damien Cox of Sportsnet - January 13, 2016 - "Holding pretty steady in this part of the draft. Scouts are very comfortable having watched this young man for years."
Curtis Joe of Elite Prospects - 2016 - "Dante Fabbro is a dependable two-way defenseman with high offensive upside. He plays with poise and makes mature, high-percentage decisions under pressure. In his own end, he is proactive with both his body and stick, and does everything right to interrupt passing lanes and win back possession. With the puck on his stick, he is mobile at an elite level and can direct plays like a quarterback."
