Tomas Hertl is somewhat of a late riser in this year’s draft rankings. Hertl burst onto the scene at the World Junior Hockey Championships this year when he was one of the main offensive catalysts for a surprising Czech Republic team. Hertl shows good offensive awareness and knows how to use his frame to protect the puck well. While he may not have gamebreaking speed, Hertl is solid on the forecheck and isn’t afraid to go into the dirty areas to get the puck. To compensate for his lack of foot speed, Hertl possesses a good set of hands and makes crisp passes in the offensive zone. Tomas Hertl projects to be a solid top 6 forward in the NHL.
