Derrick Pouliot's Player Profile

Pouliot continues the long chain of offensive, puck-moving defensemen available in this year’s draft. He is good at quarterbacking the powerplay with his great puck control and at moving the puck with accurate passes. He also is a very fast and dynamic skater. His speed allows him to lead the rush. However, Pouliot must bulk up his frame and improve his decision-making on the ice. With more strength, he will be able to power up his shot, which also needs work. His main area in need of improvement is his ability to shut the opposition down in his own zone. Pouliot will be in junior for two more seasons.Comparable: Tomas Kaberle
