Ty Rattie
Ht/Wt: 6' 0"/167 lbs
Position: RW
Team: Portland (WHL)

Ty Rattie's Player Profile

Ty Rattie is another offensively gifted winger to come out of the Portland Winterhawks along with fellow projected 2011 first-rounder Sven Bartschi, and 2010 New York Islander 5th overall pick Nino Niederreiter (though for some reason, he isn't Swiss!).

The Airdrie, Alberta native possess sublime playmaking abilities and was only second on the team in assists to Columbus Bluejackets 2010 first-rounder Ryan Johansen this year with 51. Playing alongside the aforementioned Bartschi, the former second overall pick in the WHL Bantam Draft Rattie more than doubled his point output from last season, and was an unbelievable force in Portland making it into the WHL Finals with a remarkable 22 points in 21 playoff games.

He is a tremendous passer with high level vision, while also possesses a quick and accurate release. He is an agile, if not explosively fast skater, and tends to play a perimeter offensive game - due in large part to his smallish 6-foot 167 pound frame. Rattie can be a liability in his own zone at times, and will need to greatly increase his strength and defensive tenacity before he can be an effective professional, and projects to play in Portland again next year in hopes of dominantly filling the shoes of Niederreiter and Johansen who will both be vying for NHL jobs. As well, he will compete to represent Canada in the World Juniors in his home province of Alberta.
