John Gibson's Player Profile

The best goalie might be coming out of the United States development program. After winning the goalie of the year presented by USA hockey, Gibson might be the first goalie selected in the entry draft.

Gibson is listed at 6'2, hes a big and quick in the net. He plays his best hockey in big games, and excels under pressure. He recently helped the United States capture the gold medal at the Under 18 Championships. He was simply outstanding in that tournament and that could lead to him rising in the draft.

Goalie's are hard to predict in terms of when they will make the jump to the next level. With Gibson, hes's a great prospect and would be a great pick up but at the same time he should not be rushed. Give Gibson about 2-4 years before seeing him in the NHL.

His CHL rights are currently owned by the Kitchener Rangers but Gibson has publicly said that he will be playing for the University of Michigan next year. Do not be surprised if he does end up in Kitchener, the team that selects Gibson could also determine where he plays next season.

Expect to see Goalie John Gibson to be selected anywhere from 20-40 in the upcoming draft.
