Cullen Potter's Player Profile

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - June 10th: "Potter is more of a one-on-one and shooter type of forward than a playmaker even though he can make plays. For a smaller forward, I would like to see Potter not stay on the perimeter as much as he does, but he has enough interior offense that I think he can score in the NHL as a middle-six winger."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - June 9th: "One of the fastest skaters in this year's draft class. The 18-year-old had 22 points (13 goals, nine assists) in 35 games as a college freshman, and had eight points (four goals, four assists) in seven games to help the U.S. win the bronze medal at the World U-18s."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - June 9th: "Potter is an elite skater capable of creating chances in the offensive end. He was the first forward in NTDP history to leave the program for college after his U-17 season."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - June 2nd: "The best-skating forward in this age group by a margin, Potter is a small but talented and extremely fast player who uses his electric speed to put defenders on their heels, back them off, create opportunistic chances, get out in transition and jump onto loose pucks. He's a fun player to watch with his ability to go inside-out and outside-in on players, his ability to round corners and his desire to attack off the rush and challenge D by turning on the jets."

Steven Ellis - Daily Faceoff - May 27th: "He’s 5-foot-9, but his pure skill and ability to make things happen with the puck should keep him high in the draft conversation. Overall, I like his commitment to playing in all three zones, and he anticipates plays and gets himself where he needs to be better than most of the draft class."

Tony Ferrari - The Hockey News - May 12th: "His size will be an issue for some teams, but if there was ever a Brayden Point-type of center, Potter may be it. He was always the player making things happen for ASU, and although his assist totals this year may not show it, he is a supremely skilled playmaker and true dual-threat scorer."

Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - March 26th: "He’s not the biggest prospect but he’s sturdy/strong and very hard to check. Reschny explodes up ice with the puck on his stick and pressures as F1 on the forecheck when opponents are attempting to break out plays."

Craig Button - TSN - March 25th: "When I watched Cole as a 16-year-old perform so admirably, he’s not going to wow you but you watch the game and he’s in the middle of every important play."

Smaht Scouting - March 23rd: "Defensively, Reschny is consistently engaged in his defensive zone assignments and is more effective at winning possession and creating breakouts than one might think a player of his stature would be due to strong physical battle habits, quick and precise small-area puckhandling, and a strong awareness of where his wingers are at in any given situation."
