Jason Bukala - Sportsnet - June 11th: "He’s a passer more than a shooter. Kiviharju’s reliable in all three zones. His hockey sense is in place. For his stature I’m concerned about his pace. He isn’t exceptionally fast."

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - June 11th: "Kiviharju began the season as a potential top-10 pick, but a dislocated left kneecap in October sidelined him until World U-18s in April. When healthy, Kiviharju (6-0, 184) is a strong skater who is poised and confident with the puck even as an 18-year-old playing in Liiga."

Chris Peters - Flo Hockey - June 3rd: "At one time considered a top prospect for this draft, a knee injury cost Kiviharju his season. He returned for the U18 Worlds, but did not have a great performance and has slipped down draft boards precipitously. He has elite hockey sense and good mobility, but Kiviharju lacks size and doesn’t necessarily have dynamic skill to give him a better chance to make an impact."

I think he plays the game but he may need to be used in a very specific way by a coach to the point it will be tough to get him regular minutes."

Kiviharju had some bumps in the road a year ago against men. His upside as a minute-munching, puck-moving defender will have many teams interested, though."

The concerns we had before his injury are still present. His game lacks physicality and he doesn’t possess as offensively high-end tools as some of his puck-moving defenseman peers. Nonetheless, his upside keeps him on the brink of our first round."
