Owen Power's Player Profile

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - : "You canít teach size and skating ability as Power has. But itís all about the upside with the 18-year-old. If he breaks right, youíre looking at a high-end 1D. I just wonder about the decision-making. "

Dylan Griffing - Dobber Prospects - Feb. 3rd: "Positively, he has a very strong shot and he is really effective in the neutral zone because of how much ice he covers. However, he cannot handle pressure at all. He makes poor judgments when the opposition closes him down."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Jan. 23rd: "Power is a big presence with good vision and strength and has the look of a top-pair NHL defenseman."

Steve Kournianos - The Draft Analyst - Jan. 21st: "Big, upright, and cool as a cucumber under pressure, Power is a decisive on-ice commander who oversees the majority of breakouts during a given shift. What separates him from the pack is his ability to tap into the strengths of each forward in Michiganís high-powered attack, which is exactly what he did last year in the USHL for Chicagoís deep group."

Craig Button - TSN - Dec. 15th: "Outstanding command of the game in all areas. Excellent sense with a calm and poise that makes it look easy. Power has good skills and continues to progress significantly."

Bob McKenzie - TSN - Dec. 15th: "Power, the Mississauga, Ont., native, is likely going to draw comparisons to other potential first-overall defencemen with similar physical stature. Such as towering Swedish blueliner Victor Hedman, who went No. 2 behind John Tavares in 2009. Stylistically, itís an apt comparison. To a point, that is."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Nov. 27th: "Playing big minutes in all situations in a great program as a freshman is a rarity, especially for a defenceman."

NHL.com - Oct. 8th: "Power is a big defender who moves well for his size and looks to be a top-pairing defenseman moving forward," Greg Rajanen of NHL Central Scouting said. "He's poised with the puck with solid puck decisions."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - Oct. 8th: "He checks a lot of boxes as a 6-foot-5 defenseman who is very mobile for his size and moves the puck at a high level. He projects as a tough minutes two-way defenseman in the NHL. Due to his size and mobility combination, some would even say heís Power-ful."

Ryan Quigley - Broad Street Hockey - Oct. 8th: "The 2021 class is loaded with premier defensive talent, and Owen Power ó what a name ó is one of the very best of the crop. The 17-year-old Mississauga native is already a behemoth of a human being, standing at 6í5 and 214 pounds."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 14th: "Power is a scoutís dream. Big, strong, mobile, mature, poised beyond his years, and comfortable in all three zones with or without the puck. Then you give him a versatile offensive toolkit that makes him a legitimate power play threat."

Clare McManus - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 12th: "He is an excellent skater and puck mover, especially for his size standing at 6í5Ē. For a tall defenseman, he has strong mobility and lateral movements, which is helpful when he walks the blue line to see his options in the offensive zone."
