Brandt Clarke's Player Profile

Adam Kimelman - NHL.com - July 12th: "Clarke (6-2, 185) is an outstanding two-way right-shot defenseman capable of skating the puck out of trouble in the defensive zone or making a smart, accurate pass to start a breakout."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - July 12th: "It's a rarity to get a right-shot defenseman with as much skill, finesse and offensive push as Clarke."

Hockey Prospecting - July 8th: "Due to his native OHL league being shutdown for the entire season because of Covid-19, Clarke went across the pond and played in the Slovak men’s league and was extremely productive. Small sample size (which is a consistent problem facing this year due to Covid-19), but Clarke’s production was incredible. He registered 15 points in 26 games."

Josh Bell of FC Hockey - July 8th: "Clarke is a strong offensive defenseman that oozes confidence. He excels in creativity and deception with the puck, creating space and leading transition."

Dylan Galloway of FC Hockey - July 8th: "A shifty, creative and intelligent rover-style defender. He drives chances through his incredible transition skills, taking the blueline with speed and driving the puck deep into the offensive zone."

Caitlin Berry - Dobber Prospects - July 7th: "There is room for improvement in his skating, especially his backwards skating and his explosiveness, and he needs to improve his defense in transition. However, he has shown improvement defensively, particularly when using his stick to break up plays."

Scott Wheeler - The Atheletic - June 22nd: "Clarke plays a free-flowing, fearless, aggressive roving style that keeps opposing players guessing. He looks, at all times, completely unbothered by the stage or the pressure of opposing players."

Ryan Kenneday - The Hockey News - June 11th: "Clarke is a super-smart defenseman who really showed well at the world under-18s for Canada. His vision and shot on the power play are calling cards."

Steve Kournianos - The Draft Analyst - May 24th: "A smart puck distributor and point producer who plays with a ton of enthusiasm, Clarke is basically neck-and-neck with any defensmen in this class in terms of upside."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - May 12th: "Sees the game two steps ahead. Is terrific on the power play, but takes calculated risks to be part of the offence at even strength too."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Apr. 23rd: "Clarke is a mobile, puck-moving right-handed shot who is considered an excellent passer and playmaker with great vision."

Nick Richard - Dobber Prospects - Mar. 8: "He is a threat manning the point with the puck on his stick, creating deception with head and shoulder fakes to open up passing lanes, and can jump into space to create chances off the cycle."

Tony Ferrari - Dobber Prospects - Feb. 22nd: "His skating is good but not great, relying on agility and his edges rather than straight-line speed. He doesn’t always get credit for his elusiveness but he remains one of the most shifty defenders."
