Aatu Raty's Player Profile

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - : "Yet he still brings a lot of translatable skills. Handles, a quick release, smarts, and two-way acumen. You might be landing a second-line player, but his skill has not gone away. He’s been looking like his old self of late too."

Eetu Siltanen - Dobber Prospects - Feb. 3rd: "Räty had a really disappointing start for the season but after the turn of the year, he’s looked a lot better. He was a winger in a few games in autumn, but now he’s back in a center position (fortunately)."

Mike G. Morreale - NHL.com - Jan. 23rd: "Raty is a strong skater with speed, balance and excellent puck control."

Steve Kournianos - The Draft Analyst - Jan. 21st: "The younger brother of Arizona sniper prospect Aku Raty, Aatu is bigger, faster, and plays at a higher pace at the center-ice position while also displaying a noticeable level of determination and physicality. He has game-breaking potential, ideal size, and quickness for his frame, thus earning him the privilege of consideration for first overall."

Craig Button - TSN - Dec. 15th: "Very good two-way centre who has speed, quickness, agility and power. Very good puck skills and balances playmaking and shooting nicely. A smart player who competes hard."

Bob McKenzie - TSN - Dec. 15th: "Those who like him believe Raty could project as a No. 2 NHL centre, but even before his disappointing start to this season, some scouts saw him more as a limited upside No. 3 NHL centre."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Nov. 27th: "Draft year blues have taken the sting out of the momentum he created last season. Limited minutes whenever he’s in the lineup."

NHL.com - Oct. 8th: "At present, he's the No. 1 prospect in Europe," said Goran Stubb, the NHL director of European Scouting. "Aatu is a strong skater with speed, balance and excellent puck control. Something positive usually happens on every shift, and he's got a great attitude, works hard both ways and is used on the power play and penalty kill."

Corey Pronman - The Athletic - Oct. 8th: "Raty has tremendous hands and offensive instincts, and is an above-average skater. Despite those positives, extremely early on as a major caveat, it’s hard to say Raty is an exciting No. 1 prospect."

Ryan Quigley - Broad Street Hockey - Oct. 8th: "As a 17-year-old playing against men in Finland’s Liiga, it was pretty obvious last season that Räty could end up being a special player. He’s a good skater with some very good puck skills, and at 6’1 and 181 pounds, he already has the physical traits of an ideal top-line center."

Scott Wheeler - The Athletic - Sept. 14th: "Räty plays with NHL pace and tempo, which helps him win races, get to loose pucks and remain active on the forecheck and the cycle, particularly when he’s tracking in straight lines. But I have concerns about just how dynamic his offensive qualities are."

Jokke Nevalainen - Dobber Prospects - Sept. 12th: "At his best, he’s shown he can be a big-time impact player at the men’s level at age 17. But at his worst, he’s invisible against junior players. Regardless of that, he’s proven to have all the tools to become a play-driving No. 1 center who plays in all situations."
