Olli Juolevi's Player Profile

Craig Button TSN - March 22, 2016 - "Olli Juolevi (#7) of the London Knights is an incredibly competent player who makes the game look easy in all areas. He makes the essential and key plays at every turn. He shows mastery of his position under the most challenging of circumstances, and his poise, calm and assuredness are the stuff of pillar-type defencemen."

Damien Cox of Sportsnet - January 13, 2016 - "Was terrific on the big stage in Helsinki. Owns superb hockey sense. Some have him ahead of Chychrun."

Elite Prospects - 2016 - "Very sturdily built D-man that leans into his hits, competes hard, and possesses elite-level vision and hockey sense. Looks stronger game-by-game and adapts very quickly to his surroundings and situations. Scouts liken Olli Juolevi to Olli Maatta of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both are fluid skaters and have deep-rooted understandings of their position. Both have tremendous skill and talent, and both will go far in their careers."

Mike Morreale of NHL.com December 24, 2015 - "The 6-2, 179-pound left-shot defender moved from the Jokerit program in Finland to London of the OHL this season and has excelled. Scouts like his skating, poise and composure with the puck, and excellent hockey sense. He has four goals, 23 points and a plus-23 rating in 27 games and can play in any situation."

Future Considerations - November 2015 - "This smart, composed two-way blue liner plays the game in a very mature, experience manner. He is calm and focused although sometimes he could play with a tad more urgency in his own zone. He is strong in his one-on one defensive play using his stick and positioning to break-up plays. His passing ability is elite for his age and he is strong at moving the puck. He generates impressive speeds with a strong, balance stride and good agility to keep up to attacking forwards."

Submitted by Spencer Seymour - Jan . 19th - The 6'2" Finnish defender was arguably the best defender at the 2016 WJC and displayed why he should be a Top 10 pick in this year's Draft. He can literally do everything right on the ice. He can advance the puck up the ice from behind his net, can quarterback a power play, and make crucial defensive plays. What scouts love most about Juolevi is his decision-making, which is among the best in this draft class. His skating ability, which is smooth and flawless. An all-around defender who could be a top-pairing defender with an offensive partner.
