Brett Howden's Player Profile
The Draft Analyst - June 15th, 2016 - "Heady playmaker with good size and a “Follow Me” attitude who played on Moose Jaw’s top-six thanks to a combination of strong hockey sense and tenacity. One thing we noticed is how fine a passer he is — especially off his backhand — and how he threads the needle across long distances. Brett isn’t as fast as his brother (and 2010 first rounder) Quinton, but he makes up for it with the kind of no-quit attitude and sound positioning necessary for teenage centers to exploit the obvious advantage in puck skills."Ben Kerr of Last Word on Sports - April 22nd, 2016 - "Brett Howden is skilled in all three zones. He is blessed with good size, and takes advantage of it, using leverage and working hard in the dirty areas of the ice. Howden is skilled at creating offence by winning battles along the boards, as well as establishing position and getting tip-ins and rebounds in front of the net. He also has a strong wrist shot and good release."
Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Nov. 18th): "Big, smart and competitive. He had 22 goals as a 16-year-old. The question is can he play in an NHL team's top six?"
Damien Cox of Sportsnet (Oct. 14th): "Team Canada's captain at the summer Ivan Hlinka tourney plays a 200-foot game."
ISS Hockey
ISS Hockey - Twitter (Oct. 30th): "Power forward & love his skill level and ability to get around the ice for a big guy."Would you like to write a player profile for any prospect that may be entering the 2016 NHL Draft?
