Jackson Houck's Player Profile

There were few highlights for the Vancouver Giants in 2012/13, but no player took greater strides than Jackson Houck - who not only seized an assistant captain role, but won team awards as the most improved player, highest scorer, and MVP. Offensively he's not a dynamic presence, but has a good overall skill level and generally keeps things simple and effective in the offensive zone. Defensively his understanding of the game has developed well under Don Hay, and he's thrived with the increased responsibility and more prominent role. Physically, he may not have ideal NHL size at 6'0/185, but routinely plays bigger than his actual frame, and doesn't back down when challenged. His skating is not exceptional, but combined with his energy and competitive nature allows him to impact the game at both ends of the ice. Overall, he projects as a reliable two-way winger, with the versatility to be an effective part of any line he's played on.
