Andreas Athanasiou's Player Profile

Andreas Athanasiou may not have numbers equal to that of other players eligible for the 2012 NHL Entry Draft but that does not take away from his talent. Athanasiou's stellar skating ability and hard shot, coupled with the affinity to go to the net with authority, is exemplary. He can skate through opposing defencemen effectively and is very hard to knock off the puck due to his size. His stickhandling abilities are very pronounced and he is a superlative passer. He uses his core strength to reach long enough to pick off the puck from opposing players with ease. Athanasiou could be both a 50-point and even a 100-point scorer in the OHL without question; all he needs to do is get ample opportunity.
